Finding Creative Spaces with Artery: Garden Concert Vol. 2
I'm so glad a friend of mine randomly came across the website, Artery.is, and the Garden Concert that was posted on it. Artery is a website that connects different types of artists with people who have venues they'd like to use to host artists for events. They connect, create an event on Artery, and as long as a minimum number of people sign up to attend, the event happens. I'm officially adding Artery to my "6 Ways to Find Something To Do" list.
In this case, the venue was a large backyard in Riverdale Park, Maryland with a deck built by the homeowner himself that included a bar/food serving area, a canopy, and a fire pit. The event, Garden Concert Vol. 2, featured local musicians Tattiana Aqeel and Veve and Tha Rebels, and New York blues musician Marcus Jade. They also served delicious food prepared by Chef Sabine Jeanty using local farm produce.
Everything about this event came together perfectly, with a little help from the fresh, autumny weather. The event was relaxed and welcoming to everyone, with a friendly crowd and great atmosphere. I had never heard of the artists before this event, but genuinely enjoyed all of them and plan to follow their music. They all had a conscious, spiritual vibe that mixed folk, hip-hop, R&B, soul, and blues, and I felt refreshed after leaving such a positive and creative space.
Based on my experience at the Garden Concert, I definitely plan on seeing what other events look interesting on Artery. It can get boring to go to the same concert or performance venues over and over again, but with Artery the options are wider and more diverse, allowing for a variety of different experiences.
